It's also interesting how much better Skoda do than VW in such surveys, despite the similarity (under the surface) of the cars. Skoda do extremely well, VW actually fairly poorly! Maybe there's still an element of lower expectations from a Skoda?

As for the Yeti, I'm sure it's a very good car, but I followed one into town recently and its ground clearance looked to be quite a bit less than an FL2's, so still more of an urban SUV than an off-roader.

I happened to pop into a Toyota dealer last weekend to look at the new RAV4, I opened the door and fell into the seat not like the Freely at all where I slide into it.
It seems all that I have tried have lower seating and do not come anywhere near the commanding view of the FL2. Must admit to not having a look at the Yeti as yet.

For a moment I quite liked the auto opening and closing of the rear door but then got bored waiting it was so slow in operation, H&S I suppose.

If you want something with FL2-like seating position, capability, etc, you need to be looking at cars like the Forester and X-Trail rather than the SUVs. But my current perception is that the FL2 is better (despite its lack of low range, present on the others), which is of course why I have one!

I will be replacing mine this year and while others may have more 'bells and whistles' combined with flashiness and gawdiness it does nothing for me.
For what I want and that is towing, both caravan and horse box with a few farm tracks thrown in the Freelander is the best yet and a MY13 SD4 model will be on the cards, it ticks all the boxes for my use.
