dodgey insurance companies

Hi
just read a topic on rite offs to find an argument regarding insurance companies then to find the topic locked
While I am not educated enough to tell you the vehicle is a write off or not I can agree with the gentleman that insurance companies are stitching us up for instance
I run a VW transporter which blew its turbo so I put it off the road and let the insurance run till expiry In came the renewal
£ 59 dearer as the vehicle was nowhere near ready for the road I phoned to let them know I was not renewing
following week in came my thank you and proof of no claims all done I thought! NO No No after xmas a letter came from a debt collector saying I owed them £25 for cancelling a policy I did not agree to take out.
Again My wife traded her swift for a FL2 with 2 months to run on policy To add the fl2 they wanted a further £65
rather than that I insured her for the year for £134 with another company. and let the old policy run out.
The latest trick with insurance companies online is to sell you a cheap policy tell you at renewal you don't have to do anything we will continue to take it out your bank and then whack you for any amendments when did it take £49.50 to change your reg to a private plate its still the same vehicle
My advice to insurance companies is to go back to being honest Offer a less complicated policy and that way you wont need to concentrate all your efforts on what can we get out of you now.

I've had a few arguments with insurers, including Admiral wanting £17.50 to change my private plate.

I also have an FSA investigation going into Admiral over their costs they've added to my policy. Unfortunately, even with the costs added on they're still cheaaper than anywhere else but that's not the point. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Some fees are a rip off. I could have got my renewal slightly cheaper but decided to stay with LV as I've never had a problem and as I've been with them over two years there are no charges for some amendments to your policy. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Admiral quoted over £700 to renew daughters insurance on a Ford Ka 1.2. Quick internet search got the price down to £418 from, funnily enough Admiral. Phonecall to Admiral and final price came down to £408.

I was once with Norwich union, came to renew and their Internet price was 300 quid cheaper than quoted renewal price. They wouldn't match Internet price so I went with the Halifax. Their loss. Insurance can be a mine field that lacks common sence at times I find. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Hi Hillybilly,

If you look at my op name you will see that I am the person you are referring to. In the recent discussion someone was getting a little upset, one of us is an insurance person and it isnae me!

The point I was trying to make is that insurance companies blow hot and cold. The majority of people you deal with at the end of the telephone do not even have a car so do not understand (not always the case) the problems as owners we have after an accident etc a car is a car is a car to them, you only have to look at the recent post about the car alarm is is hilarious Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

The trouble I have with the entire industry (car and insurance) is that we pay ridiculously over the odds for our cars, and fuel and insurance. We get stung for trade in values/part exchanges, the salesman suck on their teeth when we ask how much is that repair going to cost then Shocked and when we have unfortunate accidents, well the Glasses guide becomes non-existent. As the payout or market value is nowhere near what Glasses use - I referring to trade values before I get my ear bent!

Have a look in AutoExpress at the back.... And tell me how can some powerful cars that cost more, get a lower insurance premium than less powerful cars.... Have a look it does happen with some.... Misprints no been seeing it for years!

I have had a love hate affair with the motor trade for years because I know how much the driver on the street is getting ripped off, that is why I left the industry! Yeah, I look motors but sure as Censored hate the repair and insurance industry. The cost of some estimates/repairs is pathetic and do not be shocked...... Once insurance gives the nod to repairs..... Not everything is replaced with new parts...... Some are repaired, some 2nd hand. Etc etc etc. Seen it happen all before.

Of course we do have some fantastic straight as Route 66 garages, we even have some excellent insurance companies! But understand they all need to make a living...... It is just the bunch who are greedy that gets up my exhaust pipe and as a consequence pollute the trade with malpractice! 'There is thunder' then 'There is the warble of a V8'

SD4 HSE Fuji White (my car): sidesteps, door protection
Golf 2.0 tdi White (wife's car)
Triumph Stag (my 1975 V8 toy - 37,600 miles... Just started its 2nd restoration... had it since 1986)

Tiguan Summit (gone, but nice car)
Porsche Boxster (gone, it was too fast)
SLK (gone, did not like it - lost loads £s)
Discovery Cairngorm (gone,very tractor like)
+ loads of other cars

Insurance companies

My mother in law clipped a parked car and knocked off a mirror.Insurance details were exchanged and both parties agreed to what happened.Next thing we know is a claim for whiplash for the two occupents of the PARKED car.The insurance company agreed that it was a false claim but that it was cheaper to pay the £2000 than to fight it. Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys

In the past 13 months I have done now't but argue with
Bt for broadband service is just totally out the box 10 days to put the cable back up 3.5 million unemployed and their excuse was the don't have enough engineers
Aviva wanted £ 50 because I did not accept their renewal.
Budget £25 because I did not accept their renewal
and now Kwik fit are ignoring my e-mails pretending I have not contacted them why would I want to accept a renewal £50 dearer than previous year when I no longer have the car.
Problem is they are assuming you still have the same car and that you will just let them keep taking from your bank no matter what.
Now KwikFit have been told twice I do not have the car the policy had two payments to go 2x £17.50 However they would cancel the policy for £49.50 wait for it the finance company would still want the £35
I choose to let the policy run till its end and insured the new car with someone else.

Now Sex discrimination!

Fl2 TDS 2007 value £10.500 mile 57000
best quote compare the meerkat Zurich
Wife 58 yo 30 years NCB 12x13.10
Me 61yo 43years NCB 12x £19.50
Now here comes another fiddle
in my youth 5 years maximum NCB 65% you could not get any more
Now they are doing it by years but you have to prove your NCB now if max was 5 years and now the latest one I seen was 30 years !that computes to me as though your 65% max is devalued six fold.
I am getting near retirement and all this carp just gets my dander up. Mini and Anglia restorer TDI don't have a F*****g Clue

Our local NFU office took my renewal cheque over the counter, along with the paperwork,

about 6 weeks later I tried to tax the car only to find I had no insurance, as they hadnt got my renewal, Rolling Eyes

so for 6 weeks I had been driving about uninsured, they dint ask why I hadnt renewed,
I went into the office and asked the girl i gave the cheque to, what had happend to it,

they never did cash the cheque who knows what happend to it? I took all my insurance to Flux, I get the paperwork emailed to me usually in under an hour of the phonecall. Bow down
