England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Ipanema Sand
Key fob issues

Morning all. Have FL2 td4 had it a few weeks now but over the last few days when I go to unlock the door to get in the talegate is also opening at first I assumed my finger slipped and hit the key for the talegate (fat finger syndrome) but I have tried it now a few times and with out fail the talegate opens not all the time but about 3 out of 5 times it does it . As always any advice is helpfull

Hi Kelly thanks for the timely reply the car is 2nd hand on a 07 reg so don't his there is any kind of warranty issue it was more of an advice question. To see if any one else had of had the same issue but if you can still help excellent.

Firstly the fob can be set up to open (unlock) just the drivers door with one press or for all doors plus the tailgate.

With that out of the way and you saying it happens intermittently (I assume you mean opening and not unlocking) it would seem that you have the dreaded corrosion of the tailgate switch, it is relatively cheap to replace the part after a good clean and there are threads on here covering this.

Tailgate switches are prone to water ingress. Many people have had them changed or changed them themselves. Do a quick search and you will see all the info you need.
