to be fair pab, we don't know the price since it's not yet launched in the UK.
Over-pricing stuff is clearly why Microsoft have failed to get a toehold in the IT marketplace Confused

I currently have an iPad 3. It's a good tablet but I'm not a great fan of apple. I like the look of the surface, so I might get one when I upgrade.

I have a Surface RT. Pretty pleased with it and managed to save around £100 on the purchase price.
The pro would be almost the perfect package, but with reduced battery life and no doubt a very high price, there are better solutions around.

You can get one for around £400 with 32GB. That's cheaper than an iPad. I like the look of them and I would like them even more if they came in white.

That sounds like the surface, not the surface pro? Price predictions for the pro seem to be closer to 600 than 400.

Short answer for home based used - no. MS Stuff is a step up from Blackberry in that they are brill in the enterprise no so ( imho ) at home.

Plenty of Android tablets for 'surfing' and most major apps including Office type apps ( although there where rumers of a droid version in test a while back ) and for games.... for the more simple user EyePads will do the job.

What not a lot of people know BTW is that MS make more money off licencing for Android than their own mobile OS.... got to say some thing that....
