Supercar of choice

Ok, without being model specific (but state it if you wish), what type of supercar is top of your list if you get some mega bucks?

I think the Ferrari's and Lambo's for example are great but for me it is always going to be an Aston Martin Cool Love the new Vanquish.

I am going to restrict this list to exotic brands only. So no Audi R8, Jag XKR or Nissan GTR in the poll. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Damn and blast. I was trying to edit the list to add others that I forgot but because voting has begun it wouldn't allow it but just name them under 'other'

Koenigsegg
Bentley
Chevvy perhaps
Dodge perhaps
Lotus perhaps
etc LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Good to see no one likes Ferrari's and the Aston is for me, I had a DB9 fabulous car but youre scared to death to leave it anywhere just in case a builders van or a chavvy tank full of toddlers parks right next to it Rolling Eyes

I've never owned a supercar but back in the mid-80s I worked as a chauffeur for a guy based in Knutsford who sold used ones and so got to drive a fabulous variety of machinery. Neighbours never knew what would be parked outside our house next! The car that caused most envy in the street was a bright red Lotus Esprit Turbo but that only made sense if you could drive everywhere at over 100mph to make the aerodynamics work. At all "normal" speeds it felt rattly and poorly screwed together.

If you really wanted to run a supercar on an everyday basis then there was only one - the Porsche 911. This was quick enough to shred your licence without even trying but was well-built enough to be thoroughly and regularly useable, without the "temperament" of the Italian beasts. It also made sure that you developed a strong left leg to work the clutch. I'm not quite sure how anyone manages to keep both a 911 and a licence to drive though............

A thoroughly sensible alternative for a family man was the Mercedes 450SLC. This was VERY quick, utterly solid, quiet and had good accommodation. I really enjoyed driving them.

Nowadays I'm more likely to stop and ogle a well-turned out Defender than any supercar. That's what a car SHOULD look like! Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Mine - 2014 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport Matt Black
Ours - 2007 White Bailey Pageant Champagne

I think its a hard one to answer

Always fancied a Fezza or a Lamborghini as a kid

But if it was driving pleasure road trip, I have always wanted a 911 Turbo to do it Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

No no no no. A "supercar" is not a Porsche 911 or an Aston Martin and certainly not a Lotus!

To me it's got to be different and a bit wacky. That's why my vote goes to the Pagani Huayra.

It's so different to anything else out there and anything with independent front and rear flaps gets my vote Smile

Second: The Bugatti Veyron

Third: The Porsche GT Gemballa Mirage. The sound of it's V10 is just yummy!

Got to disagree with AiiEEX. Whilst I appreciate the wacky reference (I like Lambo's for that), Aston Martin's are super on an entirely different level. Yes the Pagani will always have the in your face status that few can match but you would look a flash git in it and if I pulled up anywhere in a Pagani or even a Lambo, I would feel embarrassed to be seen getting out.

An Aston makes you the king of kings. I would feel amazing getting out of one because of sheer quality and cool factor. Clarkson once hit the nail on the head when he said how good it sounds when you are off out for the evening and you can say "Shall we take the Aston?"

"Shall we take the Pagani?" just sounds crap Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
