Tyre burst by a lion

Well we'll well, quick trip round long least safari and the lions took a liking to the winter tyres !
Keepers very quick off the mark and drove at full speed at the lions but as one got scared away he just ran around the other side and had another go ! Ended up with black and white jeeps wizing up and down the sides of the car trying to keep them away ! Needless to say the side walls are no match for a lions claws so only 800 miles on and scrap ! Even tried tyre weld but that was useless " and the puncture wounds were tiny.
I had no idea what made them go for the tyres so aggressively, been round plenty of times before and no problem at all but never been in on the wintrac extremes !

I went to Knowsley a couple of years ago, I didnt go through the baboon enclosure. We had a right laugh at all the damaged that was done to the cars. I wonder what the police would make of all the cars leaving with no wipers, mirors hanging off etc ?? Whistle Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Don't mess with big cats!
Strangely my mate went on a safari trip in South Africa in lion country. They were all in an open top Land Rover and he said the lions walked right past them to the point where you could almost reach down and touch them but the lions showed no acknowledgement or interest in the occupants. He was told that the wild lions do not associate "tin boxes" with food. He asked the guide (who looked a bit like Ussain Bolt) what he would do if the lion attacked and the guy said "run for it!". When my mate pointed out that he was unlikely to be able to outrun a lion he merely replied "I don't have to.....I just need to outrun you!" Very Happy John

Good story oldgeezer, but can't help being cynical given the date of the post.

Nope sorry ! Nothing to do with April 1st. Bit gutted. At loosing tyre with only 800 miles on. I have taken some pics and u can see the puncture marks in the side wall. I also have the incident captured on my incarnations camera but all u can see is the jeeps flying too and fro inches from my car.
I am going to contact them as the incident was rather alarming and rather frightening !

N pinks couldn't get away as surrounded by cats and jeeps and I was only 100 yards away from the gates.

I can only conclude it was either the compound of the tyres or road kill !

That's why when the children were of an age that they wanted to do this we used the local tour bus company who used one of their old school buses and fitted a steel bar across the entrance door to prevent uninvited guests.

As others on here have said we did have a giggle at folk in newish cars having them c**ped and pee'd on and worse.
Rubber must be attractive to ape's and baboons as we saw them actually rip off rubber window surrounds.

According to the bus driver who is a pal they are still at it and the amount of damage caused is of serious proportions.

Would like to see the insurance company claim forms.

This puts me in mind of a trip to Knowsley Safari park about 25 years ago in Renault 5 with my twin daughters aged about 5. The baboons had their fingers under the rubber seals on the hinge opening rear windows and were trying to lever it open/off which a bit scarey as they almost succeeded. They then sh*t all over the sun-roof and bonnet. My girls thought it was hilarious driving home with more baboon sh*t flying off the faster we went with them shouting "faster, faster daddy".
