Towing in snow and ice?

It may seem weird to folk in Europe/Americas, the thought of camping in snow and ice conditions here in Australia is "different". I have camped in pretty much every conceivable natural environment, but the thought of doing it in snow and ice tickles my fancy because it's challenging. Doing something different is more interesting.
I have already spent the last 4 or 5 winters camping above the snowline, but I've been lucky with the weather and the roads were never iced up when I was towing either a small caravan or a camper trailer. Luck tends to run out eventually, so I'm asking for any tips on towing on icy roads in the event that wild weather sets in for an unexpected duration at an inconvenient time? The thought of towing something downhill on black ice scares the bejeeeezers out of me. The caravan I tow is less than 1 tonne and does not have electric brakes (nor does the camper trailer). Unless the electric brake towing system had technology like the FL2, it might be worse to have electric brakes in the tow vehicle???? I don't know.

Well I mostly tow with my FR2 and tow in the winter months a twin axle caravan as well ! But only recently as Landrover could never sort a starting issues in cold weather ! But that's another story.

I have to admit to being totally smitten with using winter tyres for snow And ice and wouldn't hesitate on putting them on the caravan as well ! The transformation in grip in snow was awesome ! This year I drove some distance in deep snow and couldn't even provoke it to wheel spin or aggravate the abs and where ever I pointed it , it just went.
I am using Vredenstien wintrac extreme 4's
Normal tyre is Goodyear Wranglers

So if we had winters with lots of snow and ice I wouldn't hesitate in putting winter tyres on the trailer
