Moisture in rear light

I have a very annoying problem moisture in my rear light. I have checked for cracks and there are none, I have removed the light and blasted it with a hair dryer and it went for a few days but is now back. May just have to buy a new one. Any other ideas would be helpful.

Assuming your talking about the main rear light cluster - The bulb holders have what looks like a rubber washer to seal them effectively so it's doubtful that it's at this point. But why not put a thin smear a vasaline or similar either side of the washer, on all of the bulb holders just as a test.
If it still leaks and as you say you cannot see any visible cracks then it's possibly where the clear outer cover meets with the black plastic - How about running a bead of ordinary glue around the outer edge, wet your finger and then smear it flat.
Question Or what about clear silicon same procedure as the glue Question Can't do any harm to try.

Will try the silicon idea I think, will blast it with the hair dryer again dry it out and leave it in the airing cupboard overnight for good measure then seal it. Thumbs Up

Has it got a grey plastic cap on it?

As CG says, I had a similar problem with the front lights, not long after I bought my FL2 Popped in to the local dealer and after a long conversation re warranty replacement, the service chap took me outside and pointed out that all the FL2’s had condition in them and explained about the Gotrtex membrane.

LR will only replace light units when there’s water actually swishing about and they are showing signs of corrosion.

Condensation in headlamps is not a problem, I was with Ford when plastic lens first appeared we had bulletins about this. The lamps have to be vented due to high temperatures from modern bulbs and lenses being made from plastic. Under certain weather conditions condensation will happen. It will do no harm.

As LR dealer said only if water present is it a warranty issue. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

Agreed, it won't do any harm, but I have seen cases where it was bad enough to alter the beam pattern. Certainly a possible safety issue. We Don't Care About Pot Holes !!

10 days out of warranty and my nearside rear light cluster has some condensation in it. My question is, is it just a case of removing the 2 screws that are exposed when the taillift is raised and then pulling rearwards off two metal poppers?

My second question is, is it worth doing, ie, can i actually get access to the main void within the light cluster to remove the condensation and then dry with a hairdryer?

Thanks in anticipation

It is a well known and documented condition and if you read tha owners manual it will tell you it is normal for condensation to be present in the light units.

thanks for the quick reply. i would have thought that if it was normal, then the other light would be the same and that it would have happened on previous occasions. maybe it'll dissappear when summer arrives (all 3 days of it if we're lucky). i'm inclined to believe the water has got in there during jet-washing

i just wanted to get rid of it as it's unsightly

Must be a near side thing, my near side one fills with condensation, off side always clear.

My car lives outside for the whole year. I occasionally get spots of condensation inside my rear light clusters but they clear by themselves.
I made the seal around the high level brake light better by adding a strip of tape inside each side of its opening before replacing it and not seen any moisture in it even after power washing.

I had this problem in a rear light when i first got mine, there was also dust in the light,i tracked it down to the plastic parting where it meets the black trim part, some black silicone mastic sorted it out.
