Wipers stay on even when engine off!

Having a problem whereby the wipers stay running when in normal speed mode - either when the auto sensing mode kicks isp to normal speed or I select normal speed wipers (i.e one below fast).

Turning the wipers off with the stalk fails to stop them, so does killing the engine. Sometimes they will eventually stop on their own, other times I've resorted to pulling the wiper fuse! Re-inserting the fuse after a while, and the wipers drop back to the rest position and work ok again for a bit.

I assuming this is likely a sticky switch/relay somewhere? Any thoughts about where this is likely to be band how easy this is to access/replace appreciated. My inexpert feeling is that it's a wiper motor swap job - any ideas if this is relatively painless?

I've got it booked in - earliest slot is two weeks away! - so if there's any chance of a d.i.y. fix?

Paul

"Borrowing" a relay and swapping it would be the first and cheapest check. Stuck relays are not uncommon. John

Ok checked on line for the wiring diagram - found this https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/user...pdf#page99

Which shows two relays, they seem to correlate with R8 and R11 in the engine bay fuse box. Noted that both these and the adjacent ones for the head light washer are the same item. So swapped them over. Wipers still work, and the headlight washers squirted once and then appeared to stop playing - so perhaps it is a sticky relay. Will sort out some rain - wont need to wait long in Wales and haven't got the time to fine the hose Etc! - and do some more thorough testing. If it is this relay then I can't see it costing a lot of money to replace?

Remember the headlight washers only work every 5 screen washes unless 10 minutes have elapsed then it fires up again at next screen wash.

Thanks for that - one of those things you'll never notice until you do something like this!
