Interesting, I have done two FL2 rear handbrake jobs and all that was necessary was to clean up and lubricate the mechanism. It got me thinking too that in all of the cars I have owned since 1970 I have never had to replace rear shoes due to wear, even on non rear disc cars, that includes three FL1s. I have replaced FL2 rear pads. My wife's 56 reg 46k Peugeot 207 failed MOT a few months ago and that was because both rear wheel cylinders were seized but the rear shoes were fine. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

A relative had a lady from a nearby farm a couple of miles away visit in her Disco, on the way home she had a puncture but since it was dark decided to drive on. When she arrived home the tyre was all shredded and the wheel was wrecked too. Shocked 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

If it's like most motorised hand brakes it's a dealer job as the handbrake has to be backed off by the computor.although it's possible to keep the brakes backed off if you remove the handbrake and switch off strait away as for pushing the Pistons back I,m not sure.i would like to know myself.i don,t know how the pads position them selves .

Just done the rear shoes what a great job, only thing to add is the bottom pin can be pushed through from behind with a small screw driver, then held in place with a thin peice of tin with a v cut in it.just push the pin out and wedge it into the v .this held it in position for me.
