Wales 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Martyn,
Events like that often have a profound effect upon your decisions. If my Dad have lived to a ripe old age, I'd have probably carried on working. I've now enjoyed six years of retirement based upon what happened to Dad. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Santorini Black

As you say guys, each to his own, my Dad died at 48 but what a way to go.
Played cricket, made 50 runs not out, came into the club house and said " I feel faint" keeled over and died.
Hell of a shock for my Mum who had to look after me 17 years old and my brother 10 years old.
However companies in the 50s looked after their employees and The Alfred Holt Line (The Blue Flue) paid all the funeral expenses and put my Mum on a full pension there and then so we did not become "latchkey kids".

Have to say that this incident never crossed my mind when considering retirement, even although I had a heart attack when I was 60. Must be the way I was assembled.

So good luck and good health to all forum members at what ever age you retire.
