Price hike on extended warranty?

Has the LR extended warranty always been this pricey or has there been a recent increase in charges?

Just been quoted as follows (warranty up in December):

Approved: £640 - 10 monthly installments of £64
With breakdown £790 - 10 monthly installments of £79

Select: £505 - 10 monthly installments of £50.50
With breakdown: £655 - 10 monthly installments of £65.50

The give it a miss option is open but last warranty claim for a rear diff bearing was £480. The select warranty is cheaper but unless the engine explodes they will just say it isn't covered and even then they will be awkward no doubt.

Long way off yet but I was curious as to how much they want for another year. 60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack

Re: Price hike on extended warranty?

I agree that the select used warranty seems to cover everything that you don't need repairing. Had that on our FL2 for six months after purchase.
My last issue being a noisy front wheel bearing. Driver’s side, which Select does not cover. Along with 4 other previous faults I've had over the previous 6 months.
I’m going to have the complete front hub with wheel bearing replaced by an independent. Prices range from £200-£250 all in, using landy parts. Big saving on dealer prices.
I looked into some other warranties too, but decided to keep the cash. Landy has now gone.

Sounds like quite a hike to me. My year 4 Approved bu no breakdown (I have family AA) was 550 and year 5 (now) was still in the same age and mileage band but a price rise to 585. I paid over 10 months Per your sums (2 free at the end like Council Tax!).

I've cancelled the policy because I bought a new car with a fresh factory warranty!

There are others like "warranty direct" but they all try to get out of paying and if you've been faithful to your service dealer and bought a factory policy, you are a lot more likely to get a sympathetic response, I certainly did. My independent "Series LR" garage man also warned me about the effort some warranty companies go to in order to pay out as littel as possible for his customers Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red
