Australia 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Tambora Flame

I wonder is it necessary to use 7.7 litre of Mobil ($21.15 + GST) to clean and fill up the engine?

only 8050km on the clock and I reckon it is way too expensive. My 3 series service cost a lot less.
I will definitly call around before I book in my 2nd service.

I can recommend a place, but it means a drive to Wollongong.

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Alaska White

I just got a quote over the phone for a 12,000KM service. Cost was $361 in Wollongong.

Seems reasonable compared to the other prices stated on this thread... am waiting for a Sydney dealer to call me back so I can compare.

Australia 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Lago Grey

My 08 TD4 has 46,000km's on clock. Trivett's in Sydney costs have been 12K approx $550, 24K $850, 36K $550. I'm expecting about $850 for the 48K so looked around. Davis Performance Landys at Annangrove have said they should be able to do it for about $500. I only did the 36K service at the end of July. I went over 8000 km's through the Red Centre straight after the service so another $800 service so quickly is a real kick in the knackers.
Hey the car went great out in the bush....straight up Big Red in the Simpson Desert first go no problem. Oodnadatta, Birdsville, Mt Dare right out in the middle of nowhere. The dirt roads beat the hell out of it, but no rattles yet. Destroyed my highway tyres Sad, they were getting low anyway.
I've had no warranty issues yet, fingers crossed.

Australia 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Fuji White
Back to the issue of 13000 km service

Back to the earlier posts re 13,000km service. When I bought my TD4 manual about 3 weeks ago, I questioned the 13,000km service, considering the book only says annual or 26,000 km. The dealer said it was a 6 monthly health check between the Manufacturer's annual services.

On questioning, they stated that not doing the service didn't void the warranty. Also, I could do this service myself, again without voiding the warranty as long as I used Landrover parts and recommended fluids. They even gave me a service shedule to follow.

I've just bought a Freelander 2 owner service manual (via E-Bay from the UK after finding a link on this Forum) and I'll give it a go myself. There's no better way of getting to know the car.
