Why is there a sensor attached to the control arm??

I was under my LR2 reattaching the skid pan after changing the oil and looked over at the Left control arm (Left hand drive model) and noticed what looked like a height control module from a LR3. When I looked at the other side I didn't find one. I couldn't find this part diagrammed on the parts listing.

Thought I should find out before attempting to install a Johnson rod on it, but it looks like it would fit!!

Anyone know what the function of this part is? 2007 LR3 86000 miles, Mantec skid plate, Akebono pads with Napa Ultra Premium Rotors, Johnson Rods, Black-Box CAN-Mate SRT, Mobil 1, NAPA Gold Oil Filter, Nitto Terra Grapplers

2009 LR2 32000 miles, OEM Roof Rails, Mobil 1, Nokian WR G2 tires,

Hi,

this sensor is used for automatic headlight leveling where xenons are installed. There should be one on the rear axle as well.

Thanks Michal! Not a real exciting sensor, but useful...

Rolling with laughter Johnson rod? I had to Google that. I thought I'd seen every Seinfeld episode too. You got me! Bow down Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Also: http://johnsonrods.com/ - Land Rover Lift Kits.

They appear to be for air suspension models, though, not the FL2 / LR2.

Perhaps the OP will enlighten us?
