Freelander 2 TD4 Auto Juddering Problems

I have a 2010 model which has done 36,000 miles and recently it has started to randomly judder. This occurs under acceleration, braking or even coasting and at various speeds. There are no warning lights shown and no faults recorded when inspected by Landrover. This shakes through the whole car and then disappears but happens at some point every journey and usually more than once. The garage have so far changed the 2 front driveshafts under warranty but it had no effect. They are now changing the torque converter.
Has anyone experienced this and knows what it is?
Also do they mean the Haldex control unit or is that just part of the torque converter?

A torque converter is what an auto has in place of a clutch - it's basically a viscous coupling. It has nothing to do with the haldex units.

The car has now had the front driveshafts, torque converter and auto gearbox replaced but the car is still juddering. They are now checking the Haldex unit. I hope this solves it but will keep you posted.

Have them checked the CKP (crankshaft position) sensor too... Very Happy
Especially it's position and connector contacts.

I asked them about the CKP and they said it would register a fault on the ECU and there are no fault codes.

If its doing it while coasting, would that not have ruled out the torque converter, engine etc and perhaps point more towards the Haldex or diff Exclamation

But in all honesty, there ain't much left now Whistle

Is the judder from front or rear Question

Rear tends to be haldex system

Front :driveshafts, transfer box or in my case gearbox

Hope its not that £4000 for a new one

Yes they changed the transfer box and the juddering has completely gone. So I now have 2 driveshafts, torque converter, auto gearbox and transfer box lucky it was under warranty. It took 6 weeks in total to find the cause but now car is running well and economy seems better too.
