United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Santorini Black
Vibration/ chugging noise around 1800 2000 revs.

I have an annoying noise on my freelander (58 plate auto 29000 miles) at around 1800 / 2000 Revs (above and below this all is fine ). It sounds like a heat shield rattle/ vibration and then a chugging noise but it does not happen all the time .

It has been in to LR four times, they have checked the heat shields but no joy. They replaced the torque converter and throttle body under warranty but noise still there. The car pulls well and general driving is good.

Any suggestion what to check would be much appreciated as it is booked in again to LR dealer in a couple of weeks for another try.

Thank you

Paul.

Hi PRGREER
I have a simular viberation problem on my 2009 24,000mls fl2 Auto. It also has had a new converter and rear discs, still has the problem. Have you found the reason for the viberation yet? Thumbs Up

Could it be something simple like a wheel out of balance? MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

My viberation started at 15,000 mls. I purchased it from Barretts Canterbury with 8,000 mls.on the clock. They had it in for six days in all [fitted new converter and rear discs ] and in the end called in a chap from Landrover. He drove it and said its a characteristic of the vehicle. When I apply or reduce power at about 1800 to 2,000 rev's I can feel the engine rev's/ viberation via the seats. It is most noticeable when at normal running temperature. It makes what is a very nice vehicle awful to ride in. Thumbs Up
