Look at what they do for your £300 - £400, not a lot really.

Oil and oil filter a must, engine oil that is not used often is just as bad as one that has done 15,000 miles |

Why not tie it up to coincide with your mot? Get the mot done and thats a big part of the service done too - many things checked in an mot test are the same as a service including lights, tyres, steering and suspension joints, transmission shafts, exhaust system, braking components (including a physical check through the wheels of brake pad thickness) etc, etc. Plus, you get a brake efficiency, headlamp alignment and emission/smoke test. Top up all your under bonnet fluid levels yourself then just get your oil and filter changed and transmission fluid levels checked by a garage. Job done. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

You will want to sell it one day. Even with low mileage a service history is a good bargaining tool, even if it's just an oil and filter change and mot. |

I would still service each year. My neighbour has never officially serviced his Mrs BMW 1 series as he has had it 7 years since new, and covered just 19000 miles.

Just had the 3rd year service done at an indie, it is basically an oil change. Indie also changed brake fluid and stripped, cleaned and adjusted handbrake (solid now after just 2 clicks). All in 245 quid. I bought my car in June last year and only done 4000 miles since then. I will sell it one day so I will keep the service book upto date. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I know what you are saying Mav, but I wouldn't have thought this would have made a big difference on a seven year old car. I would be looking at overall condition/mileage, etc Iain |

Fair point Iain, but I will always have mine serviced by my LR dealer. Even at seven years old, which mine will be in December.
