Sat Nav postcode problem SOLVED

My LR satnav (MY2012) has developed an annoying problem.

If you try to enter a postcode as a destination, it will only accept the first three characters, then there is no further options and nowhere to go (literally). Confused

It used to work OK.

In all other respects it seem to be working normally.

Anyone any ideas? Now: 2012 FL2 SD4 XS Orkney Grey

Before that: 2003 FL1 TD4 "Kalahari" Black

Are you tapping the space bar at the bottom after the first 3 digits? Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Have you tried a postcode that you have used before, as if the postcode you try is not in the Sat Nav it will stop you going further. As you put the letters and digits in the options get less, hence a non existent postcode will stop displaying the remaining digits and letters.

There is no spacebar after the first three digits, that is the problem. No spacebar and no choice of further digits! Evil or Very Mad Now: 2012 FL2 SD4 XS Orkney Grey

No apology needed, but thanks anyway.

What I need to know is:

Is it "pilot" error, a software error, or a hardware fault? Now: 2012 FL2 SD4 XS Orkney Grey

Try a hard reset, disconnect the battery, hold terminals together, reconnect the battery and see if it solves the problem.

Can't try that until Friday, got a 250 mile journey tomorrow.

Is there any way of resetting just the sat nav, without doing a reset of the whole car? Now: 2012 FL2 SD4 XS Orkney Grey

Problem solved Very Happy

Pilot error (again!) Embarassed

I had another go this morning before setting off on a 280 mile journey.

Entered the first three digits of my home postcode, no further options presented themselves, all the "keys" seemed to be grayed out.
Pressed what appeared to be an innactive "space bar", and it worked, further options presented themselves, enabling me to complete the postcode.

I then experienced a mixture of elation and embarrasment.

So thank you gentlemen, paricularly russben who had the answer from the start. Bow down Now: 2012 FL2 SD4 XS Orkney Grey
