Service question.

I purchased my wife a 2011 (11) Freelander in August 2012. The car had 11,000 miles on the clock. It was supplied by a reading landrover dealer.
Wasn't the best experience in the world but our first Landrover. We normally buy new cars but this GS was a great deal.

Anyway today I get a letter telling me its due a service. It's only done 13,000 miles now. Question is are these meant to be serviced before we take delivery ?
Are they service once every two years ?

Not sure where I stand...... What is the cost of a service for a 2 year Landrover ?

Many thanks

I've been quoted between £400 and £500 for a B service.
I'm shocked at that figure. My BMW was only £250 ish for its service at the same age and miles.

I'm a right in thinking the second year service is oil and filter, and an inspection?

Service question.

if it is still under warranty DO get it dealer serviced , you can go to other dealers,
and ALWAYS PRICE MATCH
DO NOT TAKE THE FIRST PRICE ..!!!

full spec for services should be in the book , but service sheets are on this forum as a pdf (somewhere ..!!)

spec is 15,000 or 12 months WHATEVER COMES FIRST ..

I got mine on a service plan over 5 years to include mot,s and stuff ...

Whats the difference between A and B service. And when the service thingy comes up on the display does it say A or B service? I only ask as I bought my car from a non Land Rover dealer. They were quite happy to tell me that they had serviced the car to LR spec (it says in the service book 2nd service, A) so not to invalidate the warrenty but then there were a couple of minor problemswith the car so they sent it off to a LR dealer that was part of the their group (Perrys). I thought then why didnt they get it serviced there? Any hows mine is due its 3rd service in April and I am told its only a minor service by the local indi. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

There are Dealers that will do a 'B' service for less than £400, shop around.

If it's still under warranty just bite the bullet & pay £400, you might save say £100/£150 by using a independent specialist but is saving £100 worth the risk of invalidating your warranty ?

Muck boots - here what you say but a specialist using genuine parts won't invalidate a warrenty.

LR will need to come to the party to service my car. I'm not paying £400 / £500 for an oil and filter service that's for sure.

It may be £100 but should you have a problem just out of warranty, LR may look favourably and contribute towards the fix, I had a Disco in the past and had a new gearbox three months out of warranty, if you go with the Indy you won't be so lucky.
Whilst you say its cheaper with the Indie, not in my area it's not, the last two services I've had I have phoned the Indie, got his price, phoned the Dealer and they have beat the Indy both times, the last time didn't even mention the Indy.
My last service was the B Service which was done for about £325, with software updates which the Indy probably can't do.

Barretts of Canterbury have left a message tonight saying they will give 20% off and charge me £440

Hell will have to freeze over before I pay that ridiculous price.
