I just noticed in my previous post that I save them out to my 1 Gig external drive, not going to get much on there Embarassed

It was meant to be 1 TB external drive Smile so I've edited it.

That's a farrrkin' good bargain Thumbs Up
It's around £250 in Rip-Off Land!

LaCie is all I use and trust, apart from their stupid Porshe designed models.

I remember, 20 years ago, a 400MB drive cost me £400. So that £1 per MB.
This means a 3TB drive would have cost £3072. How times change!

Noticed last night that I am running low on space on my HDD ( C: drive), lots of photos on there, it is all backed up daily to a NAS drive (1TB).
I was looking at different options and would like opinions on the following as PC components and OS have come a long way since I was involved with such things.

Option A
Buy a second HDD and transfer the "My Documents" folder to that.

Option B
New bigger HDD and put everything on that.

Option C
Buy a solid state HDD for the OS to run on and a second HDD for the documents, pictures etc.

The PC is of my own build running Win 7 64 bit, main use is photography, Photoshop CS5 which runs through a 1GB graphics card.
4GB system RAM
2.5 Ghz Dual Core
SATA drive connections

Any advice would be appreciated, the system runs fast enough for my needs, it's never used for gaming or video work, the photo files can be 100mb each at times with a few open at once, the graphics memory copes with those and CS5 can be pointed to use that memory.
I understand its Hijacking Nicks thread a little but it's all relevant and another thread will only end up disjointing the info.

I would go

Option A
Buy a second HDD and transfer the "My Documents" folder to that.

Connect it via sata or the fastest alternative way, I opted for USB3 as thunderbolt was very expensive

In time i will buy a multi drive raid device, like a Drobo etc

Ive sent you a pm too

Everything, all data, on a RAID6 NAS, which is backupped nightly (incremental) to an online storage...

Computers have only running their systems, which are cloned to an image once in a while.
