2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Barolo Black
Engine Judder when holding speed.

Hi, I'm getting a judder which feels like a slight missfire when you try to hold a particular speed (acceleration is fine). My FL2 has been into my not so local dealer and has been driven by two technicians who both experienced the fault, neither could come up with a reason as there are no faults being indicated. Changed the fuel filter but they are at a loss as to what is causing it and my worry is they could end up changing parts unnecessarily. I'm not that technical to be honest but I really like my FL2 and just want it running smoothly. Has anyone else experienced this problem and more importantly did you manage to resolve it?

Haven't some people experienced this and cured by a software update?

If not I'd suspect EGR valve sticking but not enough to trigger the light 2007 Black Freelander 2 HSE - hers

I would be using the diagnostic reader to take a look at the Air flow values given by the Air mass flow meter as this will give your described symptoms especially when holding around 2500 rpm rev range. Thumbs Up

I would also take a look at how dirty the air filter is and replace if dirty or Soaking wet as flood water does get to the filter and makes this mouldy.

Is it speed related or the amount of revs? Can you provide more of a description as it could be steering or suspension related if it is speed related.

Thanks for the reply's.
The garage updated the software which included an engine hesitation fix between 1500 & 2000 RPM and the air flows were reset.
I can check the air filter myself so that's not a problem.

The best way to describe it would be when I accelerate up through the gears there's no problem but when you get to a given speed and try to hold it you get the fault. It is there in the lower gears but you don't tend to get it as you're accelerating through and the roads are a lot more uneven so it's difficult to feel but when you get on a dual or motorway its becomes more apparent.

Sounds like it is resonating when you reach a certain speed, regardless of engine speed? Are you getting vibration through the steering wheel? Any tyre hum? How old are the tyres? Any knocking noises when turning at low speed?
