Mine is very light. I really wish you could adjust it to a little bit more heavy for better stability at speed. The evoque is slightly heavier and makes for it being much more stable feeling.

My first comment on owning a Freely was how light the steering was compared with my XTrail, in the beginning it did feel so light that over zealous cornering felt like it had lost front traction but stability and centering have never been a problem.

A toe out condition could give symptoms like this. Light steering and wandering.

Interesting you mention this. In all the paperwork that we got with the vehicle was paperwork showing that it has had it's alignment check a good dozen or so times. Tyre wear is even, pulls straight, and no wandering. I guess it is just lighter than the BMW on low pros, that it replaced, and a LOT lighter than my defender with big MUDs on. Shame it can't be adjusted to just be slightly heavier. Andy |

I've had several BMWs and they have all, without exception, been heavy steerers. The FL2 is noticeably lighter (and I believe it was this that ensured it got the vote from SWMNBO) |

When I got my car from the dealer, the fronts were quite down and I felt it wandered on the A-roads I felt. Putting the pressure up made a big difference to that effect.

Agreed. I've just put an X3 in for a FL2 and I find the steering very light. I thought the X3 steering weight was perfect, so the FL2 is going to take a lot of getting used to. At the moment, I don't feel fully in control of the thing!!! ![]() |

Interesting hearing people's opinions on BMW steering. I never found the steering heavy on the BMWs I had.

Same here going from the TVR, light that it is but with a heavy old V8 over the front wheels, the FL2 feels super light, but get use to it after a few minutes driving |

Yes it is light and a moment's inattention can cause an alarming twitch on the motorway. But it's better than the FL1, which was really twitchy. |

I have another vehicle where the speed sensor would occasionally drop out, apart from the speedo dropping to zero another characteristics was the steering would go really light. The servotronic power steering would adjust its weight according to the speed, lighter at slow speed heavier at fast speed. When the speed sensor failed it obviously had nothing to go on and defaulted to its lightest setting which would make it really twitchy on the motorway and cause you to steer into corners too quickly until you got used to it.
