United Kingdom 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Firenze Red
Buying my first RRS

Hi all.
I'm new to this site as I have a Freelander 2, so I'm familiar
With the brand.
I'm looking at swapping it for a RRS about four years old.
You've probably cover this loads of times, but what should I
Lookout for, avoid, check and test etc when viewing one ?
Any pointers would be grateful as its a bit of a minefield out there.

You'd probably getter a better response by looking at www.rrsport.co.uk which is the sister site for RRS.

On this site you'll probably be told to avoid it at all costs unless you happen to be someone who used to own a Freelander but now owns a RRS who will tell you it's the best thing ever.

Personally there are other LR/RR vehicles I'd consider before an RRS but that is just my opinion.

I certainly like mine, but is it truly better than a fl2? bigger yes, smoother yes, more comfortable yes, economy not as good but fl2 is hardly a fuel miser. Allround better for the cash? the juries still out.

rrs has a few oddities,
rear lights dont come on with the door?? why oh why??
no global close of windows on key fob, infact only drivers door window has one touch switching Confused
dash/radio is very similar to fl2, rrs bluetooth is better than fl2 esp if you swap drivers/phones regularly
rrs has a proper key, sorry but i never liked the fob and button, give me either a key or a button not both

low box never really used , lifting suspension very handy on flooded roads

I like both, but at present enjoy the bigger rrs as I have two young kids. At work
At home

Listen for any knocking noises from front end, Bushes will require replacement very common fault.

Check for any leans to one side airbag leaks.

make sure plastic trims on bottom of doors well secured all plastic clips in place and not damaged underside. Not expensive to replace but if damaged good bargining point. Also check doors shut properly on front as if the plastic trim has suffered a hit can put the doors out.

Check bonnet catches are lubed and working properly, quite a few cases of the bonnet coming undone. Should be no movement of bonnet if pressed on. If there is rubber bonnet stops will need adjusting.

Check out seating quite a few have found them hard to adjust to.

Suspension though more sporty can be a little hard and crashy, though the newer model rides better, would say the FL2 probably better for everyday use.

A few issues with loose drivers seats though would of thpought this should of been resolved by now.

Finally get a bigger wallet Laughing
