The dealer told me that a full turbo had been fitted as there was no longer a kit available. I cannot understand LR authorising a full turbo if a 'repair option' was available. They definitely said that the actuator was faulty so perhaps the fault could not be repaired with the simple kit.

If only the dealer would explain fully exactly what was done and why.

Anyhow I am not complaining as I now have a new turbo which hopefully has cured the long saga of Reduced Engine performance.

Thanks for all your replies. at least with forum members on here its good to exchange ideas.

Bryan

Interesting, mine has just been dropped off for failed turbo actuator too ... be interesting to see if I get a repair or replacement turbo.

2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Orkney Grey

I have just been away for a few days and on Tuesday (my last day of ownership of my '11 plate FL2 before swapping to '62 plate on Wednesday) I was loading the car, as I had to do several trips from the accommodation I was just unlocking the boot each time, then closing it to relock and get the next load. Final load into car boot with my bag for the day, closed the hatch and walked around to the front to get in. No keys, I had put them on the bags in the boot when loading and when hatch closed car locked. Wearing only shorts and T shirt carrying almost nothing, fortunately for the first time in 5 days I had put my phone in my pocket, but had no LR Assistance info, no reading glasses to read it anyway, no pen and paper to write down numbers.

Rang my wife who seemed strangely reluctant to drive the 200 round trip around the M25 etc to bring me the spare keys. Instead she rang LR Assistance who were extremely helpful and just over 20 minutes later assistance arrived in a Disco in the form of a very pleasant and competent mechanic. With incredible care, tape over anything he might scratch etc, using a combination of his and my cars electrics he sprang the hatch, I will not describe how on an open forum but really easy if you know how!

So thank you to LR Assistance for brilliant service even when the cause was completely user incompetence!

By the way not wishing to stay off topic but the change from '11 plate to '62 plate and the MY13 car was well worth it and Lancaster LR, Reading, could not have been better throughout the change.

In my case LR assist were great. It's sad that they were only patching up after the dealer c@cked up.
I wonder how often they are left picking up dealers shoddy workmanship? And what do dealers care when its LR assist are there to pick up the pieces and the dealer gets to keep the cash. (Coming) 2016 RR Evoque td4 180 HSE Dynamc
