Just remembered My sister in law had a golf, she had a vibration and they had it back in, replaced the driveshaft but it was still there vibrating more and more turned round and said characteristic of car, even though the loaner was identical car with no vibration

She rejected it as it was new and ended up with c30 volvos from then on Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

D99, I don't need a land rover anymore. It has 96'000 on the clock, plus I need to save money to buy a house!! Grown up stuff Neutral

Good car that, and most people if you look at the range would agree that that spec is the best offered on the Golf. Apparently dealers I spoke to when getting mine said you couldn't get a Golf with that spec for love nor money! Have you test driven it?? I'd get it without hesitation if you want a do-all hatchback. The engine's a peach too, it's like an electric motor, huge torque everywhere!

Also, it may be pricey compared to equivalent Skoda's and Seats, but it won't depreciate anymore Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Are you aware of what the previous owner's been towing with it?

Yes, is that such an issue?! No caravan socket tho. My freelander came with tow bar and caravan socket, did not bother me

Having used my work car to tow some fairly substantial trailers over a number of years, they can dish out a lot of punishment and premature wear and tear to engines, gearboxes, steering and suspension.

I'd be keen to know if it had had occasional use running rubbish to the local tip in a light weight trailer, or if it had been used for towing substantial trailers or caravans over long distances. If it has, I'd consider the 45,000 miles showing to be the equivalent to around 70-80,000 miles normal wear and tear.

If it's just an occasional use of a light weight trailer then there's nothing to worry about and you've got yourself a useful extra.

It's unlikely the dealer will know for sure, I always like looking in the service record, if it's still in the car and try and get the previous owner's name and address and then call them to ask them a few questions about the car. I've gleaned a lot of useful info like that before, mostly positive.

Update: I see you've just answered something I was going to raise about a second electrical socket.
