I see the annual Disco Derby has begun again.
On the news there was one on its side with cars and vans driving around it, how do they do it ?
In our village this weekend a local in his D3 T-boned some poor chap in a car by failing to get round a known 2nd gear corner.
Saw another with smashed front end in local supermarket car park.

Do they not realise that the D's ability to stop in snow/ice is considerably worse than an ordinary car because although it uses the same sort of ABS brakes etc , the sheer mass of the D3 makes it very hard to stop quickly in these conditions? It doesnt do the rest of us 4x4 owners any credit.

Last year I even had one upside down in the ditch next to my house. It seems he was going too fast to be able to get round the corner, nose went into the ditch and then pivotted on its nose and rolled onto its roof. Driver had to get out through te upside down tailgate.

You have hit the nail on the head jules. People just don't realise that a 4x4 like that becomes a 2.7 ton sled as soon as you hit the brakes hard. I don't think Disco drivers are any worse than any other driver it is simply the idea that a 4x4 is "invincible" in the snow and crap driving. There was an item on the BBC news where a FFRR had rammed a toyota through someone's garden wall on a downhill bend. In general Defenders are not so bad as they seem more likely to be owned by people who need a 4x4 rather than school run parents. John

The right rear tire looks to be on backwards. That will help in the snow!!!!!.

Tbh its not just 4x4 drivers.... I've been up on our hills today where although we don't have snow there are other things like ice and sheep.... it ain't summer.... those cars I did see ( including a couple of mpvs ) where driving like they where an f1....

In short accidents like this will happern especially when the nut behind the wheel is loose
