There is no hard and fast rule but if noticed that tyres are not wearing correctly then it makes sense to get it checked, but you could go for years without bothering if wear is good, steering wheel does not go off centre and no strange tyre noises.

16 months after buying my car I changed from 17" to 18" wheels and that dictated I put it in for wheel alignment, or a wheel knock into a kerb should also be viewed as possible misalignment.

My cost for a local computerised 4 wheel alignment was £40.

I had an XTrail with factory fit tyres and it was notorious for wearing on both edges even with alignment checked, the only answer for me was to over inflate a few psi to compensate. Not to be recommended but perhaps the tyre pressure was wrong in the first place Surprised

It takes very little to " knock out the tracking". If you were to bump up a kerb or hit a pot hole these can take your tracking out of alignment. It pays to have it checked if you have suffered any of the above but in general check your tyres and tyre pressures weakly or daily if you do a lot of miles each day. that way you will see any tyre wear and get it corrected quickly Thumbs Up
