We are about to return to the world of caravanning after a five year absence. The last foray was with an ancient Defender and a 13 foot Sprite!
This time we are looking for a bit more comfort, space and refinement behind our FL2 manual.
It looks as though a van around the 1450kg laden wieght is an 85% match and we are wondering which are the best models out there
If anyone can share their experiences, both positive and negative it would be appreciated. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

That would be the 'negative' side out of the way

TRT, are you talking of new or second hand
Two berth or more
Any preferred layout, fixed double, bunks, end bathroom etc
Single or twin axle there are a few newer twin axles that are fairly lightweight now.

Loads of choices. The manufacturer's have shaved lots off weights, and the interior specs are brilliant.

Whilst this site might provide some answers I would go to a dedicated caravan forum for advice. I would suggest caravantalk. 1998 300TDi Auto Disco, never to be forgotten.

we have caravanned for 20+ years and we have bought bailey vans mostly. Everyone we have owned has been 100% reliable and the dealer has been excellent. We have had brilliant service and stunning memorable holidays in Europe.
The Freelander tows a dream and has towed the last two twin axles we have owned without any effort.

We have also owned lunars and Abbeys but have to say the Baileys always tow superb, may be partly attributed to the fact that Bailey work with Bath university and combine towing information and technology to achieve stunning towing results.

I'm interested to know the wieght of your ranger gt. I am keen to keep within the 85% ratio of car to caravan and have been looking at vans of around 1500kg. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?
