Damaged N/S door mirror

I whacked a branch recently and cracked the plastic cover on my N/S mirror, luckily everything still works and the glass is OK. I located and bought on ebay a complete mirror assembly described as intact but that the electrical folding mechanism was faulty, OK I thought, no problem because all I want to do is swap over the plastic cover.Try as I might, I can't get the mirror apart. Is it built never to come apart or what ?
Does anyone out there have any experience of dismantling these mirrors ?

07 Freely, the covers don't come off iirc, only the MY10 models onwards could you get the covers off, buy another mirror, or get a pair of coloured covers to go over the top of the originals.

Try Dan at Duckworth Parts. He was doing a special deal on passenger side mirror assemblies for FL2.

Thanks for the replies.
Suppose I should have asked if they came apart before I bought off ebay first.
I'm going to try a gentle dismantling operation when I get chance. It looks as though the casing is held together with welded plastic rivets, may be able to drill them out. I'll keep you updated. christophed
