Well I do have the poisonous spiders and snakes in my backyard. I live backing onto National Park in the Blue Mountains just west of Sydney. Not many jellyfish or sharks up here. Did you know that Kiwis (New Zealanders) are particularly terrified of those creepy crawlies when they visit? They don't have anything like that over there and expect funnel web spiders or brown snakes to jump out and terrorize them everywhere. It's a laugh really, we rarely give them a thought. |

That's the thing, when you grow up with them your used to them, so those that ain't go by the tv progs which are all spiders and poisoness snakes and jelly fish, OZ Zoo type program's or people nearly drowning on Bondi Rescue, and then you have the boarder control program' nothing to declare' which portraits a picture that your lucky to get in the country in the first place

That day out even although I organised it cost me a new starter motor 3 months later as apparently they are not waterproof. Turned out to be an expensive trip as cost of new motor and intstallation was £300.00 plus Bill T Life Honorary Member of Wallasey Motor Club. Licenced MSA Radio Operator for 35+ years. What height is the starter motor from the floor, It seems daft to have a component susceptible to water damage in a location below the wading height stated in the literature?

It's very low on the freelander prob 300mm. They do rugadise it to a certain extent, but the muddy water from Bala would of killed it. Fresh water may be different tho, certain electric motors can operate under water without any waterproofing. |

I mentioned the problems associated with wading when on (and wading) the experience days. Although they often go through the dirty muddy water most days, they had never had any issues. |

height isnt the real issue here more is it in a place that gets in the bow wave? behind the fan if the fan gets in water? is the component in a place that drains quickly or does water continue to drip down on to it long after the wading has been done? At work

Friend of mine did something similar, water didn't look deep so off he went. Unfortunately the road had been washed away and he went in well over the bonnet. Result totalled!
