If anyone is looking for a low cost Freel 2 take a look on ebay at the minute. There is a 2006 , one previous owner, apparently up for grabs being sold by the current owner with location at the garage that has dismantled the engine top (head off).

Search under 2006 LAND ROVER FREELANDER 2 GS TD4 BLACK For spares or repair.

Engines are also to be found on ebay so it should make an easy repair job.

This car is a manual box; I can vouch for taking an auto engine out the top as very straight forward leaving the Gearbox and ALL drivetrain and ancilliaries still fully connected ie not drained; I would guess that the manual should come out the same way. Topix is very misleading.

Sounds like it may be the camshaft that has failed. I'm not sure it is particularly cheap though if they are wanting around 5k for it unless you can do the work yourself.

Yes big al cove it's that one and showing at £3,000 as of Saturday evening.

As far as I'm concerned its a DIY engine change and sell off the old remains.

There is mention of a new inlet manifold with the car do maybe it's ingested flaps.
