Filler cap separation

Has anybody else had this happen to them?

Stopped last night for diesel at my local garage, went to unscrew the filler cap and the yellow cap parted company from the white nylon section that fits into the neck of the filler tube. Fortunately I managed to get the latter out of the tube and with a bit of gentle force reunited the cap with the nylon section. It appears these are only a snap fit. Hopefully this won’t happen again, and the cap is still sealing the tank so that it pressurises.

That's not ideal!

Ours is bloody tight, I've taken the skin off my knuckles several times undoing it. Ours might be next!

The nylon wasn't iced onto the neck was it? Moisture may have got past the filler flap? Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

No - as far as I know it was fine. It was 'only' an indicated 0c, we're not getting the cold temperatures up here (yet) in Central Scotland that you guys seem to be suffering from down South.

Had on a loan car once with that fault, LR said "someone must have forced it" - how?
