Is 'Terrain Response' standard?

Does Terrain Response come standard with all Freelander 2 models?

I'm looking to buy one sometime next year - most likely the GS specification with a few options and the automatic transmission - but I'm unsure what comes with all models?

The reviews I've seen online all have a dial above the gearstick, but this definitely wasn't the case for the Freelander 2 I sat in before in the dealership - a little flat compartment for presumably coins was there instead. Where is it these days and will it be different given that the one I'll be getting is automatic?

it used to be the case that the basic model the "S" didn't have terrain response, but its over 3.5 years ago when i bought mine so could have changed since.

It wasn't standard on S models but having just had a look at the LR website it appears for 2013MY vehicles it is included on all 4wd vehicles.

I assume 'MYXXXX' means 'Model Year XXXX' ??

Excellent, I'll have to properly read this brochure tonight.

Slightly off-topic but I definitely underestimated the Freelander. Beforehand I was convinced that if I visited Land Rover, then I'd come out with a Discovery4 and a severely cut house deposit! Likewise with my other half and her initially liking the Evoque. We both instantly fell in love with the comfort and the look of the Freelander.

Only worry is the reliability. I've been around the Discovery forums for a while and I seem to recall many people joking about the Freelander. Never really understood why but it seems there were problems with the initial release?

I didn't notice that. May I ask where that is?

Regarding reliability, in my opinion it really is luck of the draw with any manufacturer.
Freelander 1's certainly had a poor reliability reputation, but there are owners on here who swear it was / is the best car they ever had. Similarly, there are F2's that go wrong regularly and ones that never have anything wrong.

If you are looking at a new car, the three year warranty will give you peace of mind, but unfortunately no car is 100% reliable. Personally, I love mine and all the time it's under warranty I will continue to love it ! Thumbs Up _________________

Thanks for again, Aero. I figured it was as much. Having had a browse around this forum for an hour or two, it does indeed shed more light on the reliability concerns I seen elsewhere. Given Land Rover have been doing this model of car for well over 5 years now, you'd expect them to have nailed it by now.

I have seen it written somewhere (I think it was the LRO) that the freelander 2 has been the most reliable land rover car.

my local LR dealer has said a couple times that the FL2 is the most reliable in their fleet. and that was after i had bought mine so it probably an honest statement coz you would expect them to try and talk me up to a disco or RR.

With regards to other LR forums, most non freelander owners seem to take the p**s out of freelanders,

Perhaps the Freelander forum should take the pi## out of the Range Rover then?

lol, the worst seem to be the defender drivers on landyzone, but i think they are mainly getting at FL1 owners.
