DMF perhaps? My old Insignia used to do it periodically...worth keeping an eye on. Foraging near Gaydon....

EXACTLY the same thing happened to my 11MY manual two days ago in B&Q car park. Very disconcerting. Checked on all known forums but nothing came up so thought I was jinxed!

Deffo not the DMF. You'd get the clutch slipping first as an early sign.

Its possible it could be the EGR valve sticking and as it resets all becomes well again |

The EGR valve is responsable for a good number of problems from running uneven at idol to excessive black smoke and higher than average fuel consumption. |

This has happened to mine 4 times in just over 2 years. Always on a hot start. Apparently this is a known problem on Evoques and the recommended fix is to change the leak off pipes, however I was led to believe this happened on cold starts. Mine has not done it since the pipes were changed but between the 1st and 2nd service it only did it once, so only time will tell if this is a cure. I feel it is more likely to be an ECU problem as it appears to fire the cylinders in the wrong order and a restart puts everything back to normal. It has never had a problem with cold starting. |
