Freelander shaking itself on start up

Has anybody exerienced this?
Restarted after 15 minutes on my drive so the engine was still warm, clutch still depressed from the starting proceedure. The car shook itself wildly, quite scary actually. Turned the engine off and restarted with no issues then everything was as smooth as ever. I didnt imagine it and it hasn't happened again. MY12 and only 6K miles. No known local earth tremors reported!
Should I get it exorcised?

DMF perhaps? My old Insignia used to do it periodically...worth keeping an eye on. Foraging near Gaydon....

2011 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Lago Grey

EXACTLY the same thing happened to my 11MY manual two days ago in B&Q car park. Very disconcerting. Checked on all known forums but nothing came up so thought I was jinxed!

Arriving back from a similar length drive this morning ECO mode shut down engine automatically as usual but then restarted itself after a couple of seconds before I could get out, without me touching anything including the clutch! Planning a 200 mile trip on Sunday to remote area but not sure whether to chance it now until I can get some sort of answer.

Deffo not the DMF. You'd get the clutch slipping first as an early sign.
Unless your clutch has been slipping for a while Whistle
Mine never shook.

Take it back to the dealer. They will be able to read any fault codes Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Its possible it could be the EGR valve sticking and as it resets all becomes well again

The EGR valve is responsable for a good number of problems from running uneven at idol to excessive black smoke and higher than average fuel consumption.

This has happened to mine 4 times in just over 2 years. Always on a hot start. Apparently this is a known problem on Evoques and the recommended fix is to change the leak off pipes, however I was led to believe this happened on cold starts. Mine has not done it since the pipes were changed but between the 1st and 2nd service it only did it once, so only time will tell if this is a cure. I feel it is more likely to be an ECU problem as it appears to fire the cylinders in the wrong order and a restart puts everything back to normal. It has never had a problem with cold starting.

I am sorry for my non PC topic heading. I feel like a UKip voting foster parent now. Embarassed
Thanks for all your explanations. I am not too concerned now as it appears I am not unique with this. Of all the explanations given the cylinders firing in the wrong order felt the most likely on refection and given how violent it felt.
Two thoughts - should I be going to the dealer? I feel inclinded to see if it happens again first and it would have to be Lookers which is on a par with going to the dentist for treatment. Secondly what an EGR please? 2012 GS Converted-
