Upgrading the Sub.

Hi All,

have had the FL2 for a month or so now and loving it.

I do find the radio sound quality rather poor although AUX and CD quality is very good.

one question, the Sub comes in on low volume and when the volume is increased and the sub starts to slightly distorts it shuts the sub off completly, obviously to protect it. Can i simply upgrad this sub without touching anything else?, although my Boom Box days maybe over i do like the sound of a half descent sub but find the standard LR one is rather poor..

thanks Mark

im trying to do the same thing. I'm thinking of an underseat active sub ? When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

Not wanting to teach granny to suck eggs but have you got the sub balanced properly? The reason I ask this is mine works perfectly well but it does get a bit overworked if I turn the balance of the sub up. John

i've tired numerous settings and it still lacks low end at high volume. Sad When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

JST, yeah tried all settings, i use to be a bit of a ICE Junkie a few years back so had plenty of time setting systems up, i just dont really want to lose any space with an active sub if i can get the desired effect from simply changing what i have that would be perfect. im not wanting a nightclub in my boot just a little more booming......

Chris: the infinity Basslink 2 active sub is a fantastic piece of kit, had been using them for some time until i recently sold it. although they are a little bit dated now, still a blody awesome bit of kit..

There is always the costly option to buy this

Plus an amplifier and you favorite subwoofer.

I had this system on a previous vehicle. It was great!!!!! Cuatro Por Cuatro

i am confused what does the clean sweep thing do. would i have to change all my speakers or is it a piggy back module where by i leave all my existing components and it is "suppose" to sound better ? When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

It just connects to the original wiring from the speakers (You leave the original speakers connected) and removes all equalization from the signal to give you a flat (RCA) sound output to connect your own amplifier and additional subwoofer and/or speakers.

I had it in a Chevrolet vehicle where the original stereo did a lot of the ECU functions for the vehicle and couldn't remove it. This allows for the original stereo on the dash and makes thieves think you have all stock sound system. Here in the US is a big problem with thieves that try to steal your sound system from vehicles.

I hope this helps you.
Shoot me an IM if you need more info. Cuatro Por Cuatro

so can the Stock sub simply be replaced for a better unit that will not turn itself of when it gets to a level that it distorts at? does this sytem work from feed back from the sub itself or is it pre set? on previous set ups i have had it has worked on feedback. as i sadi dont reallt want the hassle of more amps etc

thanks
