Faulty Sat Nav Screen Help Required

Has anyone seen a faulty Sat Nav screen like this before?

It started a few weeks ago, the Home Screen, Screensaver and Settings screen are problem free.

The fault can come and go, sometimes fine for a few days and then it comes back.

Basically it looks like a honeycomb effect.

Any help welcomed.

Cheers

Hi again.

Just out of interest can anyone see the above photo?

I've just had another look at the problem:

I removed the DVD and fob inserted and held down the start button to power up the Sat Nav, all ok except the Navigation button which says DVD not inserted and I have the honeycomb wiggly screen, so i don't think it's anything to do with the disc.

Next I unbolted the player under the seat and checked all the connection were clean, which they were and refitted, tried Sat Nav again but problem still there.

How the heck do you remove the speaker cover, I know theres a clip top dead center, but what tool do you use? I wish to check to connections there too.

Again any help welcomed.

Cheers

For anyone not seeing the photo

Only guessing really, may well be a graphics file corruption, or bad connection. If connection checks don't cure it maybe a fresh install or update disc before blaming the screen Exclamation

From another thread on removing speaker cover:
Quote:
Go to the speaker looking panel on the dash above the cubby - using a plastic lever (or a covered/protected wide flat blade screwdriver - so you don't mark the interior) - start at the top (near the windscreen) just off centre and carefully lever the panel up (there is a clip top dead centre) - then work your way gently either side (the are two more clips - one either side about half way down). Once all three clips are popped then the panel will lift off - move it up and slightly towards the windscreen to remove.

Just a thought, is it possible to reset the satnav so that it asks for the original disk to reload?

Thanks again

Thanks again for your help.

I got the speaker cover with the credit card trick - glad i used an old one, it nearly bent in half Laughing

Checked all the connections to the touch screen and refitted, still same problem.

Anyone know if you can reset the satnav so that it asks again to load from original disc?

Or anyone ideas welcome.

ALL problems with the FL2 satnav can be rectified with the following easy 'reset' procedure that will ensure a much better navigation experience and more intuitive system - plese follow the directions below EXACTLY.

1. Proceed to WH Smiths and buy a pack of bluetack (Other retailers are available).
2. Proceed to Halfords and buy a Garmin satnav with lifetime maps (Other retailers are available.)
3. Affix 4 blobs of bluetack (See 1 above) to the fitted LR satnav screen - one in each corner has been scientifically proven to work best.
4. Press Garmin satnav (See item 2 above) against the 4 blobs of bluetack previously affixed (See item 3 above) with a force of 35.5 Newtons.
5. Press 'on' button on Garmin satnav (See item 2 above and associated instructions).
6. Enjoy aforementioned better satnav experience (See preamble prior to item 1 above).

Hope that helps someone ! FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

With the potential of a 1 to 2k repair i would have expected a more helpful reply from forum members, maybe a take the pi** section could be created. Censored Owned History

Maybe if we didn't take the p Censored s your post may have dropped right off the radar.

have you searched all the other threads on this subject or would you like us to do it for you, have you found details of the LR bulletin on screen problems?

Yes we can help, sometimes a little banter helps keep the thread alive and help will be coming long, I have just searched the forum and there are lots of threads on this subject of faulty screens.

Personally I would think it is a connection issue, more so as it is intermittent, try removing the screen and re fitting, this simple action alone can clean the joints of connectors, it may not work but at least you can eliminate it.

Can't see resetting the unit and using the original disc will achieve anything, it has to be a screen problem or a setting Question Even if you have the latest discs, you can still put the 2007 discs in and they will work fine. You could try a reset to factory settings on he screen.

Hi,

I have exactly the same with the satnav display since a few weeks. The honeycomb effect is only in "navigation mode" and NOT in the first screen after "start up" or "clock screen". Any news regarding this display issue?

Best regards,
Richard
