Connecting An Ipod?

Having read the owners manual, I am not really any the wiser. My car is a '08 TD4 GS Auto.

I have a 'i-pod classic 160gb' and assumed I would be able to plug it in to the little jack plug at the rear of the centre console, to allow it to play through the AUX mode on the stereo.

Am I right thinking this?

If I am correct think ing, where can I find a cable which will plug in to both the iopd and the jack plug in the car?

If I am wrong, what is the jack plug on the console for then?

Cheers

something like this:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-5mm-Stereo-Jack-to...dZViewItem

There are better ones that will retract into a reel a bit like a tape measure.. I cant remember where I saw them

I'm going to be looking for one with a 90 degree turn on one end so it doesnt stick up so much from the socket in the car- less chance of getting snapped off.

You will also need ipod car charger

I did ask at the ipod stockist, and I felt a bitter like I was talking rubbish, and all they could offer me was a FM tranmsmitter type..

i use the leads and they work fine

If your not fancying eBay, try places like maplins, currys, PC shops as its a common sized lead.

Obviously your ipod stockiest wanted to sell you the more expensive transmitter which are just about ok but more expensive.

I like linking my Nano 3g up and listening/watching movies or audio books, the subwoofer brings them to life Whistle Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Again Thanks

We do have maplin, and only a couple of miles away from me, so will try there.

Can I ask, it is just a standard cable, or is a specific ipod item?

Thanks Again

Got It Sorted

Thanks All

Got it sorted at Maplins for £4.99, for a 1.5m (the shortest one there was), 3.55mm jack cable.

Now the Ipod can go inside the centre armrest out of sight while driving too.

Thanks Again

Seems to me they over charged you a little, but saying that you will be getting charging of the ipod and use of steering wheel buttons unless I am mistaken.
