Central Locking issue.

Hi everyone.
Just wondering if anyone else has come across the following...........

A few days ago I put the key in the ignition and started the old girl, and the tailgate opened. This also showed up on the dash display as it is meant to. I got out, checked the lock and closed the tailgate and didn't think any more about it. Now when I unlock the car, the tailgate is also inclined to "open", so I have to go round the back and close it again. I have tried swapping keys, in case there was a problem with one of them but it still does it. It has never done this before in nearly 6 years.
The lock to the tailgate seems fine, there is nothing stuck in it, and the actual lid opens and closes as normal.

Has anyone got any ideas, please?

Sounds like when youre pressing the fob unlock button youre also somehow operating the rear hatch release button too, which is directly below it on the fob??
Maybe the fobs a bit iffy?
