Also fitted mine recently.

Might have been the cold weather, but I couldn't get the trim pieces to unclip. The whole assembly came unstuck from the roof. Not a problem, as I just stuck it back down with sealant and the roof rails hold it all down anyway.

The cross bar was very tight and the allen screws a real beatch to locate and tighten. In hindsight, I would have left the rails a bit slack and torqued them up once the cross bar had been fitted.

Just waiting for a pair of OEM cross bars to arrive so I can fit the roof box - ready for an expedition with the family and dog to deepest Yorkshire. Thumbs Up garioch43

I have the opportunity to purchase some used roof rails for my FL2 but want to ensure that they are genuine LR rails and not one of the various OEM models that have a lower carrying capacity.
Does anyone know if the genuine rails have a LR identifier on them just as the genuine side steps have?

just remember to make sure you get the special 'tool' for removing/moving the x bars, this tool allows the correct torque to be applied to the fixings. FR2 100%

I see said "torque wrench" tool in the instructions, but is it included in the Cross Bar Kit?

^here's the .pdf for the fitting of the cross bars.

Thanks guys!

Could they make the instructions look more complicated???

Hope I can get them fitted before there's a foot of snow on the roof. Shocked garioch43

God forbid Land Rover should include a word or two in any of their instructions. I had to google pics of the roof rails installed to figure out which side was the front of the cross brace, and which side was the back.

the roof bars have an arrow on them to show you which side should be pointing to the front

They are really easy to put on, each side is spring loaded when loose to allow you to fit, what i do is position the bars to were i want them and then stand at the front to make sure the highest point is central with the car and then tighten them up

Simple Thumbs Up

Scooped up a pair of crossbars today. I had to talk the stealership down to $335, since they were $325 just two weeks ago, and now LR is charging upwards of $440. What a load of crap that is since they haven't changed them in years.

In other words, buy them asap and ask for last weeks price.

The LR roof set up is so damn expensive that once you get the rails, bars, and and accessory carrier mounted, you have no money left for a bike, or skis, or a kayak. Laughing

You just have a cool looking roof.

The snow stopped and melted today, so I fitted the cross bars to my roof rails. Doddle!

Man handled the big black shiny roof box onto the rails and bolted it down. Bit of a challenge getting to the fixings at the hinge side, but managed by almost climbing into the box.

Car now looks like something from Torchwood Thumbs Up garioch43

Not sure that anyone else does roof rails for the FL2.
Several people do roof bars - these go across the roof, genuine roof bars only fit the roof rails, and have the LR logo on each end cap.

Be aware that there are two different types of roof rails - with/without sun roof.
They can be fun to fit as the plastic strips that run full length of the car have to be removed, drilled and refitted to enable the mounting bosses that screw into the roof to be fitted.

Hello all ... based on a tight budget I'm considering the 'Genuine Style' roof rails that are on eBay .. what is the difference between the sunroof and non sunroof versions.. The eBay seller i spoke to said the kit they sell fits both..
