Could be a bad earth, heard of issues of corrosion in the cable, try putting a jump lead from the negative of the battery to the engine block and see if anything woks then!! 2008 XS TD4, Sumatra Black, Manual. |

It's an idea worth trying & I'll give it a go but I'd have thought that pulling, what, 2A for the radio plus flashing the headlights (8A) would draw more current than just getting the ignition to light the dash up. |

I had a simular problem drove to the garage filled up with fuel then nothing - dash was dead as a dodo, the AA said it looked like a flat battery but after testing the battery agreed the battery was OK so tried disconnecting the battery and thankfully it worked for mine.

Bet your passenger has unplugged/loosened the multiplug connector under the dash on the nearside with their foot? |

Thanks, DrRpb. If confirmation were needed, this company keeps coming up in a FB post my misses made asking for a reliable but non-dealer workshop! I'll be calling them first thing Monday morning... |

Update: the helpful chaps at Rovertune tell me this is more than likely a failure with the dashboard control - they had a similar fault on another 07 plate FR2 recently, I gather - and it'll take about 2 hours to replace & reprogram. The cost of this component is likely to be in the order of 200 GBP (at the time of writing - Nov. '12 for anyone finding this thread in years to come!).
