You've Been Trumped

Did anyone else see the program as titled, BBC 2, Sunday night?

How can both the Scottish government and Anglian Police sleep at night, allowing an American to come over here and desolate an area that is protected by the highest order (supposedly)?!

And...how can he claim that part of someones house, which has been there for generations been encroaching onto his land, to allow him to knock part of it down without legal contest?! With the people who (quite rightly) wouldn't leave their homes he then cut the water supply off (police and government turn a blind eye) and placed huge muck stacks around the houses to block them.

I'd love to know how much he's paid the SNP, after all they over ruled the original planning application which was rejected on environmental grounds. Apparently it's the only example of the government stepping in to overrule a planning application.

And yes I know the program was slantered against Trump, I'm not an expert etc etc, but why would Scotland want a stupid over the top golf course owned by someone who thinks he's a big deal, at the expense of an area of outstanding natural beauty, unique scientific interest, just so some just-as-jumped-up American execs can come over, play a round and go home on their private jets!?

I grew up with the construction industry and enjoy big projects, but this is ridiculous!

Scottish government should hang their heads in shame at allowing this to go forward. The residents of Menie have my full sympathy, and I hope Trump and his bully boys crash on their way back to America. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

I was actually going to put a dig in about independence if they carry on like this but decided againast it...Scotland would soon be more urbanised than London in a decade if they vote yes! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

I didn't see the program, sounds quite an interesting topic

I suppose it will bring in revenue to the area, golf course won't be Tarmaced over, but be mown down and grass so not a blot on the landscape as such, but turfing people out of homes is terrible to do so Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

It was worth watching NPinks, will be on iPlayer. I like Scotland alot, and try to get to the highlands for a holiday every year, but I wouldn't be proud to be Scottish whilst this is going on.

The London School of Economics worked out that the majority of staff would be American, and the financial benefit to the area would be minimal. All funds would be channelled to America so barely any benefit to the UK coffers. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

I didn't see the tv program, but recorded it and will watch when I get a chance.

I've seen the golf course and to be fair it has not had an adverse impact on the landscape which is still stunningly beautiful with massive sand dunes and gorgeous sandy beaches.

What I would be dismayed about is if permission is given for a wind farm off this coast. It would be a massive blot on the landscape and a tragic impact on the outstanding beauty of this area.

Also I will not vote for independence and do not agree that 16/17 year olds should be allowed to vote for this.

I used to live near Torness nuclear power station - now that's a blot on the landscape Shocked

We have a windfarm near us and I cant get worked up about it - solar panels on roofs are another matter Whistle

Seriously though we need energy and I would rather use mother nature than have another Chernobyl or Fukushima Sad

I bet when windmills were built people objected and now we think they are lovely Laughing

Pah!

What about the Scottish parliament? How did they get away with that? The self indulgence was on such a huge scale and yet they all got away with it. B&^$*rds the lot of them.

The same crowd wanted Edinburgh surrounded by toll roads. Not neccessarily a bad isdea until everyone found out that the MPs and council workers exempted themselves.
Talking of Edinburgh council and planning department, how they have got away with allowing the building of so many awful flats and offices that are ruining the look of the city and its skyline?
Grr, that's it I'm in a bad mood.

The Trams!

How could I forget the trams? The Trump thing is bad enough but seriously, the councils here get away with murder.
I'm done now.

I don't think the windfarm is a bad idea, they are supposed to be a mile offshore so not exactly a blot on the landscape so to speak, more a shipping hazzard I would have thought.

What pi55ed me off about his golf course is that the correct planning procedures were not followed due to the Scottish government getting involved, a few back handers here and there and trump throwing his toys out the pram and all of a sudden he gets planning permission with the threat of compulsary purchases on all property in its way.

The windfarm won't be built because Fart made quite clear he wouldn't build his hotel if they were given permission.

SNP?! More like Trumps Bitch Boys.

And why would you want a modern, characterless golf course when you have St. Andrews not that far away?? That is a lovely place! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Why should they not they put up wind farms all the way round the Scottish coast, they got them around wales onshore, offshore , and who gets a slice of the revenue , Charlie boy ..at least its keeping it in the "Family"

maybe Mr Trump can dig a few bunkers deep enough to put some hydro electric plants in when Scotland "go green ". non - nuclear..
