IIRC Jean Charles de Menezes ran away when challenged and they were in the middle of a terrorist attack so he looked suspicious Sad

It was tragic and I hope it never happens again but I would be inclined to stand still and put my hands up so hopefully would not get shot Embarassed Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

On the other hand not even an apology offered, let alone disciplinary action or an inquiry

Strange world Exclamation

Need to get your facts straight, they ran him to hospital immediately, apologised and are launching an inquiry, dont stir up feelings on the forum just for the sake of it.

The MP used a series of expletives in front of members of the public as well as calling them plebs, the media prints what sells, not the truth.

My apologies as that was not the first story in the Daily Mail, obviously you must have first hand knowledge not gained from the media.

Though the media can print what they want and reflect a view they want it, is a shame that nowadays we are more more reliant on the media to provide a means to provide more sense and justice to some of the excess and silliness that seems to be all prevalent nowadays.

These like every posting on this forum are just my views formed from my life experiences which I am now mature enough to know, my views will differ from others and I'm not going to get all excited that someone has a different view point and does not share the same feelings. I would hope that people here are as like minded as those on RRS D4 FFRR forums where different views can express without someone getting upset.

The Police don't go around tasering pepole for fun. It's classed as a firearm, so the officer will have to go back to the station & spend time completing lots of forms following its use.

It's also unlikely for someone to suffer a stroke from an electric shock. A stroke is a bleed from, or a blockage in, a blood vessel around the brain, & you don't get them from electicity. Tasers have been tested for years & have proved themselves pretty safe to the recipient.

Did anyone else notice he knew exactly where his white stick was when he dropped it in his re-enactment on the TV report? Registered blind, maybe, but not completely without sight I guess. All that groping his way along the hedge...

A bit of sensationalism for the media, me thinks. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

He didn't run away and in fact he was not even challenged. That was all deliberate lies and misinformation put out by the police when they realised what they had done. What they actually did was follow him onto the train and then pin him down and put several bullets in his head. Tactics learned from the Israeli police who often have to deal with real suicide bombers. Had it not been for cctv footage (which the police tried to supress) their lies would not have been uncovered. Poor bloke never had a chance. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech

In any walk of life mistakes will be made. I thank God that we have people willing to act in any of our uniformed services. I wouldn't have the nerve to go out on the streets of Cornwall, let alone London (or even worse Afghanistan) wearing any uniform these days, with the total lack of respect shown to anyone in authority.

Anyone verbally or physically abusing anyone else should be at least stopped and warned, possibly prosecuted if the offence is serious enough. MPs, footballers, TV and film "stars"and anyone else for that matter should know better than to swear at any member of the public, be they police or otherwise. Using foul language was something I grew out of before I left school. I'm glad Mitchell has resigned but sorry that he was defended by slippery Dave. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Bugblatter - I was going off memory and stand corrected Embarassed

The shooting was a terrible mistake at a time of terror due to bad intel leading to officers mistakenly killing an innocent man in the belief they were protecting the public. The only winners were the terrorists who sparked the chain of events - the officers who shot him will have to live with it for the rest of their lives as will his family Sad

The people who covered it up should be sacked - we expect honesty but as we see every day this is unlikely Rolling Eyes

I am glad I don't have to carry a weapon and decide in the heat of the moment under pressure if I should use it Shocked Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Absolutely. I don't blame the cops who shot the guy, as you say it was the management who directed operations and then set about instituting a cover up. Similarly with Hillsborough. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech
