(07 GS) does not have a starting delay for the glow plugs

There should only be a delay when needed (i.e. when it's sufficiently cold that the glow plugs need time to warm up). A modern diesel should start pretty much instantly when the temperature is above freezing, but may require a few seconds when it's below. Which means that in a couple of months you'll know! If it's -10 and the engine still starts OK you don't have a problem.

That's basically my point too - I think some of the early models had software glitches for which we as a forum designed workarounds. LR may well have sorted these out by now in the recent models. I think from memory the OP has bought an 07 model, so he may have bought some of those glitches with it. If he finds that his car is fine, then fine, but if he does have problems those old workarounds may help.

True, sometimes I can be too focused on my own car year and forget lessons may well have been learnt by JLR and improved upon.

My comments about eventually flattening the battery come from;_

personal experience with a then new FL2

confirmed by the official Land Rover Assistance man who came to my rescue

confirmed by an email from some one at Land Rover HQ, (presently I cannot find the email, I did print it off)

and from others on this forum.

I wonder if there is confusion between being put fully to sleep and shut down times etc

I have also been informed by LR Assist, never leave the vehicle unlocked, there are many modules running waiting for instructions whilst unlocked, double locking I was told, shuts these modules down.

Then perhaps LR Assist should read their own documents and not give out misleading information, or are you telling me this is wrong.

I repeat, less than 23.8mA current drain single locked or unlocked after 38 minutes standing.

End of the day we each have our own opinion on who/what to believe, personally I cannot believe modules wait indefinitely to shut down but would wait a certain time for driver interaction and if nothing occurred after 38 minutes, then they would shut down.

One issue I am aware of is certain wifi signals can stop the car shutting down, the modules receive a signal that they recognise and effectively reset the time counter, sitting there, alert and waiting for he command to come.
It could cause high power drain and flattening of batteries and had been known to lock out the owner, the car is looking at the new signal and not the fob for a command.

I don't buy the wifi one as it deals in the frequency of 2.4GHZ whereas the Freely fob receiver is on 315 MHZ (early models ) and 415MHZ (later models) band.

I do agree though that interference from an adjacent band could overwhelm the receiver, such as a more powerful amateur radio repeater nearby could cause this.

The problem with wifi is that it shouldn't interfere, in reality they are cheap nasty units with very poor components and design and they do interfere.
Leave you phone near a device with speakers, it chirps at regular intervals, it's not operating at that particular frequency but picking up interference, not sure why the electronics need to sit and wait, do other cars do this or shutdown immediately?
