Damn that's a nice shot you found there CG Wink

In fairness, Doctor Who is a superb show that has gone way beyond being just for kids. In fact many critics have now stated that kids will find it too hard to follow as they are aiming it more at adults.

P.S, one of the girls in the office got me a desk patrol dalek as a laugh for a secret santa gift. It has sensors so it doesn't fall off the edge of the desk. Doesn't get used much though, can't think why... Laughing LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Could not disagree more. Matt Smith is superb and brings his own unique character to the role. All aspects considered, I give David Tennant the edge as I think he was more convincing when the stories got emotional.

The problem these days is that if an actor does more than one series, the media are calling for a change. Tom Baker lasted for years and although he was no doubt excellent, he would not manage that today due to the fickle nature of the media and fans.

Matt has had some great scenes, one of them is posted in a youtube link in my signature on here. The timing is perfect next year for his exit, it is the 50th anniversary. At the fall of the 11th, silence will fall when the question is asked.. Doctor Who? LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I know that we are going to need to agree to disagree on this one, but I can at least say that it's nothing to do with how long he's been on; I thought he was a poor choice from the very start Sad

When the producers decide to pick an unknown for the role, there will be an uphill struggle for the actor. Matt was criticised before he ever appeared on the screen! Some of that due to people feeling Tennant should have stayed forever Rolling Eyes

I think he has lifted himself beyond such trivial matters and worked hard and deserves praise for that if nothing else LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Honestly, it has nothing to do with whether or not he was an unknown, his age or whether Tennant should have stayed on. I'm solely judging him on his merits as an actor and the way he is trying to portray the character. On both counts he is, IMHO, a disaster.

To illustrate the point Karen Gillan, as Amy Pond, was similarly unknown, young and had to fill a role that was still in the shadow of Billy Piper, but she did absolutely fine and might well have done a much better job of portraying The Doctor herself.

Amy is good and I will miss her in the show but Matt is a superb actor no question and has brought an excellent aspect to the character. Tennant seemed to have the weight of the universe on his shoulders but Smith's Doctor hardly ever makes reference to his past and Gallifrey. Cleverly however, Smith brilliantly shows the internal conflicts about The Doctors life and how he needs a companion with him in the Tardis.

This scene shows an excellent aggressive outburst that Smith excellently plays as surprising the Doctor himself!  LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
