Window Lifter Driver Door

Hi!

I have a problem with the window lifter on the driver door. There was a ckracking sound and now the window is loose. The motor makes ugly noise...

Trust I will have to change the complete unit. According to my dealer this shall cost EUR 350.-

The window lifter costs € 156.-

Do you think I can change that myself? do you need special tools? is a new setting of the plc/control necessary? ...I read something that the window lifter doesn't work anymore after changing the motor and needs to be readdressed...

If anybody has some tips or a repair manual, that would be very helpful!

Thanks in adance! Bow down

regards,
mkau

I don't know if I can help here or not! I removed the glass and mechanism to replace the passenger side door latch.

If you remove the door card and unbolt the mechanism you may see better what is going on. The two clips that hold the glass are quite flimsy.

When I removed mine and refitted it there were no problems. It helped that I could raise and lower the window to about 2/3 closed to get the clips in an easy position to undo. I removed the switch from the door card and plugged it back in so I could easily raise and lower things.

They do have a rather sensitive protective mechanism if something gets jammed - it may not be dead afterall

Although I haven't changed one on my Freelander, I did change the Window Regulator on my wife's car - and I'm not hat mechanically minded either.

Simple enough job as long as you take your time and know where everything goes afterwards. Taking photos before you start to dismantle things helps.

The dismantling was not difficult. I'have ordered the spare part which is really very expensive compared to the fault! € 156.-

When you took the window motor out, was the window all the way up?
I am about to replace the door latch and I was curios if the window will stay in the up position. Cuatro Por Cuatro

Quite so...
How did you removed the window from its carriers?
LR tells you that you need a flat tool that you must insert into the door after you remove the exterior window trim (that black band with a thin rubber at the base of the window) and pull up the window. Then the window will pop from its carriers.
