Fl2 Spoiler

What exactly does the rear roof/boot spoiler do on a Fl2?

Is it purely visual?
Does it create any extra noise (as a result of air flow)?
Or doesn't reduce airflow vortices, like the shark-fin on wings, thus improving economy/reducing noise?

I love the look of them and think they finish the Fl2 off lovely, but want to fully understand them before fitting.

Looks nice. No effect on keeping the rear window clean either. Finishes the back end off. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

I've been told the HSE doesn't have a spoiler and I want one. the picture in the brochure shows the XS with dynamic pack and HSE with lux pack fitted with spoiler. I have asked LR and they said they will phone me on Monday to tell me if my car will have one or not
