Went to Honiton on Saturday for the LRE that my main dealer service qualified me for. Went out in the Evoque, auto of course but I'm not sure of the model.

I think it will be Evoque next for us. It is big enough for us two and our luggage.

Evoque has slightly better ground clearance than a Freelander by about 5 cm (actual difference will depend on tyres and weight of vehicle and passengers), otherwise ability off road is virtually identical.

I guess LR are giving the customer the choice, as opposed to their old ways of giving you very few models and minimal variants.

Will have to stick with Freelander, as you would not get all of Mrs M,s cruise cases in the in the evoque (6 and counting !!) even with all the seats down , all I have is 1 suit carrier and a duffle bag .!! Wales

One thing I should have said in my original post was a big thank you to the LRE folk at Honiton. Everything about the place is so professional, from the excellent comfortable reception area to the way they all set out to make their customers feel special. I've been out with two of their trainers now, Dave and Rob. Both are great at their job. If you lurk on this site, thanks guys. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

did you notice any difference to the evoque on road, with it magnride or what ever they call its suspension? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

I Have driven both and would say the ride in the Freelander is far smoothe than the evoque but the evoque drives more like a car and feels a little more solid.

My latest LRE was with my daughter's boyfriend, Dave, who had never driven off-road but is looking to replace his now-defunct company car, which was a 4WD Audi TT. On-road he complained about the wallowy ride of the Evoque compared to the TT. The Evoque we drove didn't have the magnaride; Rob (LRE trainer) said that it makes a huge difference compared to the standard suspension.

cant really compare A TT's ride to Evoques as they are totally different. I find the Evoque to handle the bends extremely well considering its size, height and weight.

I have the Magnaride in my Dynamic 2.0Si4 Turbo petrol Evoque & there is no way I could corner the FL2 I had like I can with the Evoque - the FL2 would tip over. The magnaride stiffens all the dampers, steering geomatry etc quicker than an Audi R8 (I believe) thus giving the feel/handling of a quality hot hatch. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red. (Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red. (Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding. (Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather. |
