ex-MoD 90 2.5 n/a soft-top | |
Hi,
I was thinking of an ex-MoD 90 as a winter play thing to compliment the Fl2 and Vivaro. So was after experience knowledge form those who've bought/owned one, worked in the trade servicing/repairing/selling them.
Without sounding funny/ungrateful, I would rather keep the threat to point and short, so I am not after opinions or stories form someones mates cousins sisters husbands dogs... type of chinese whisper.
So far I've got the usual 90 stuff to look out for chassis, X-member, bulkhead, smoking (little ok on start up) but needs to die off quickly. etc. etc. PLus I know that the Recon engines are worse than the original ones, whereas recon boxes, etc are not a problem. I know they're slow, but we could still hit 70 coming back form the plain in FFFR 90s back in the day, but unfortunately I had very limited experience with the 90s in them days so cannot call up on it.
Any proper experience would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Harvey

Thank you, I was looking for a n/a as I will then have no qualms about ditching the engine at some point and putting a better lump in there (fancy dropping a 2.0 L-series in - don't ask its mad I know!). Was going ex-MoD as it would be the simplest, most bare vehicle from which to build my own 90 from.
Ex-MoD are 'sold as seen', but for a wedge they will road register, plate, MoT and tax. Which gives me an identity for dropping a galv' chassis under, galv' bulkhead, Puma dash, and basically do stuff as and when I find stuff cheap, or else have to replace something.
It might sound crazy to some people, but normal is so boring
Thank you,
Harvey
