United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Tonga Green
Panoramic Sunroof

Decided to try the sunroof today on the way home from work. However when I pressed the switch nothing happened Crying or Very sad

Stupidly didn't try it at the dealer. Could it be a fuse or is there some other interlock I should be aware of?

Ignition was on and engine running when I tried to operate. Discovery 4 HSE - Aintree Green

Fuse is the first thing to look at. Think it's no 12 under the glove box, but manual will say for certain.

Looked at fuse (it's No 10) and it's fine.

Looking at the "ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT DIAGRAMS, L359 09 MY LHD, Job1 Issue 2, 09 July 2008" it seems it's fed by FE18.

That also feeds the brake lights and I think they're fine (will check). I've looked for FE18 in the under bonnet fusebox but it's either under the plastic or doesn't exist. There is a marking on the box "F18" but no fuse in sight Confused

Mine is a 2007. Any ideas what it could be? Are there any DTCs associated with the sunroof that could be read?

V confused... Discovery 4 HSE - Aintree Green

Sorry, can't go beyond that, as I don't have a sunroof. Hope someone else can help. If you only recently bought it, best bet is back to dealer.

Called the dealer this morning and they said they'd get back to me later on.

As promised they did but I missed the call. Left a nice voice mail saying that the battery needs disconnection and then the sunroof motor to reset the system. As I live about 140 miles from where I purchased it they are going to arrange booking it in with my local dealer.

Said they'd call back tomorrow. Will report back when I find out what's happening... Thumbs Up Discovery 4 HSE - Aintree Green

Yes. Definitely a LR dealer! Surprised

Spoke to them today and they advised booking in to my local dealer (Stratstone Stourbridge). They said if there are any issues to call them (Guy Salmon Wakefield) and they'll smooth things over. Thumbs Up

It's booked in for Friday so we'll see what happens... Discovery 4 HSE - Aintree Green

good luck! When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

change of subject slightly, but i found Guy Salmon (although in Bristol) fantastic when i was looking for my Freelander, as well as Hunters in both Southampton and Norwich others i spoke to seemed not to be to fussed to take my money...

Anyway, has it been fixed?

It's going back this Friday for further investigation at my local dealer (Stratstone Stourbridge).

Last time it was in they informed me that it's probably a 12 volt wire chafing and if it was then it wouldn't be covered under warranty. Cost to repair around £750. If it was a control module then it would be covered under warranty.

I pointed out that if a 12 volt wire was chafing then a fuse would have blown somewhere!. They then informed me that I owe them £144 +VAT for a diagnostic investigation!

I explained to them that I'd had the vehicle 2 weeks and they should phone the dealer I bought it from as they said it would be covered under warranty. They did so and phoned back to say I wouldn't have to pay the diagnostic fee.

After they'd dropped it off at home, I also noticed that they'd scuffed my dash. Whether it was during trim removal or the complimentary valet I don't know. I've asked them to sort this out too!

Anyhow it's going in again on Friday so we'll see what happens... Discovery 4 HSE - Aintree Green

Vehicle went back yesterday and they had it all day.

Got it back this morning and the sunroof now works! Thumbs Up

Despite initially saying it was a module, the final problem was a chafed cable and a pin that had pushed out of connector.

All covered under warranty so pleased with that. Thanks to Shaun Wright at Guy Salmon Wakefield for sorting this out with the local dealer.

Bad news though, whilst driving around today I noticed a buzzing noise coming from the roof area Big Cry It's not too loud so I'm hoping a good shove of the trim will stop it! Confused Discovery 4 HSE - Aintree Green
