Rear differential software update

hi !
I just had the software for my diff updated ( 3 software patches).
they normally do this when they change the rear bearing when noisy... i decided to do this as a preventative measure.
(i have the software codes if anybody is interested)
question: does anybody have an idea of what mods this software does ?
have i lost the ability to preload the haldex gen 4 in an offroad situation ? (thus inducing an initial wheelslip ?)

your input is appreciated Thumbs Up

Yes it would be interesting to know what the software adds but i think LR are very secretive about their SW.

Is there any way to tell which version of the software you have in general or is this only something that the LR garage can do? I have one of those OBDII BT keys and can reset fault codes but im not sure its much use otherwise for the ECU software....

While most cheap scan tools can read fault codes stored on the ecu when some thing is not working correctly and guide you in the general direction of the fault. This is mostly related to the engine, they can not actuate that servo or test fire an injector etc etc.
You can get the VIN from the ecu and maybe the software build depending on the meter used, along with erasing fault codes etc.
There are a lot of sensors on a Freelander 2 where only the very expensive units on the market will read, actuate servos and the like and re flash the ecu.
There are some good units on the market which are better than what landrover actualy use themselves but if you dont know what you are doing then best leave them alone as you can realy upset the running of the car. Thumbs Up

Rolling Eyes
All i can read from the job card, is that 1 software was an update to an existing software, and 2 others were new software installed for the first time.
